Sarasota fishing report

After every trip on the water, I write quick report on how the bite was and conditions given.

4/10/24

The bite was slow in the morning, we fishing deep cuts and oyster bars through sarasota bay. Found a few mangrove points with high current which produced around 20 snook. Last cast of the day produced the biggest snook caught on a charter yet. The fish came out to 37 5/8" and put up an incredible fight. fishing is getting hot as we come out of these constant cold fronts. the ticket is still finding warmer water, shallow water when the sun is high has been a pretty solid bet for snook.

4/8/24

Fish were holding very shallow for the beginning of the day, very little tide movement had the fish scattered but hungry. The new moon had them hungry in the morning. in the afternoon, we focused on deeper mangroves with moving water, and docks on with lots of shade. look for warmer water as well, most fish were caught in 73 degrees with surrounding temps at 70.5.

4/7/24

we fished offshore for kingfish in 50-70' with skirted ballyhoo. The morning bite left us with 5 kings, and two smokers that cut us off mid fight. In the afternoon we switched over to fishing ledges and hard bottom in 40' which had produced 6 keeps gags (out of season) and a handful of triggerfish. Water temp 70 degrees.

4/5/24

Today was a mid cold front day, very slow bite with the fish holding tight to structure. bay temp was 70 degrees, but canals with water around 74 produced quite a few fish. other than a few schools, most fish were not too eager to eat.
